The University of Adelaide, in particular The School of Dentistry, has had a long and productive association with Craniofacial Surgery. This academic and clinical collaboration has contributed to our understanding of the pathology and natural history of facial deformity and disease. This knowledge sets the basis of clinical management protocols.

Dr Grave's academic appointment at the University of Adelaide as Senior Lecturer, facilitates the close connection between research, education and clinical practice.

Lectures to university students on craniofacial growth and development is important. This lecture series has a particular focus on the multi-disciplinary management of craniofacial deformity.

Lectures to university students on various aspects of general medicine. The focus of this lecture series is on blending dental education into the mainstream health professions and building alliances for improved patient outcomes.

Interpersonal violence, motor vehicle accidents and sporting activities are the most common causes of injuries in patients presenting to University Teaching Hospitals in Australia. Clinical education and outcome studies are important to improve longterm outcomes for these patients.

The Australian Craniofacial Unit has treated from birth to maturity thousands of patients with various congenital deformities. An extensive clinical data base has been utilised as a source of research to improve patient outcomes.
